Lost or Damaged Passport

Once the police report is done, your lost or damaged passport is replaced through a re-issue application — you receive a new passport with a new number, not a copy of the old one. A few things that make the process smoother:

• Affidavits matter — lost passport cases generally require Annexure F (a sworn statement of how, when and where the passport was lost), and we prepare it correctly the first time.
• If the old passport is found later, it cannot be used — it must be handed in to the authorities, as it is cancelled once a replacement is issued.
• Urgent travel to India? In genuine emergencies, an Emergency Certificate may allow one-way travel to India while the replacement is processed — ask us whether your situation qualifies.
